Mechanism of action
PPARA agonist
Ciprofibrate, a PPAR¿ activator, is used to treat hyperlipidaemia and was found to be beneficial in the prevention of ischemic heart disease in individuals with elevated levels of LDL cholesterol. In addition ciprofibrate is also found to modestly decrease elevated fibrinogen and plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 levels and elevate level of plasma HDL cholesterol.
