Mechanism of action
Mitochondrial complex I (NADH dehydrogenase) inhibitor
Prodrug - active metabolite is ME-344. Mitochondrial inhibitor, specific molecular target for ME-344 has not been completely defined but has been shown to inhibit mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS) complex I (PMID:25973307), may also inhibit the mTORC1-and mTORC2-dependent pathways (PMID:25411085, http://mct.aacrjournals.org/content/12/11_Supplement/A17.short).
