A pathogen pattern recognition receptor and C-type lectin expressed on the surface of immature DENDRITIC CELLS (DCs). It also functions as a high-affinity receptor for intercellular adhesion molecules ICAM-2 and ICAM-3 to initiate the primary IMMUNE RESPONSE.
