LEFAMULIN is a pleuromutilin antibiotic under development for the treatment of community-acquired bacterial pneumonia, as well as acute bacterial skin and skin structure infections. It inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the peptidyl transferase center of the 50S ribosome, resulting in the cessation of bacterial growth. — NCATS

Bacterial 70S ribosome inhibitor
Antibacterial. Interacts with the bacterial ribosome and functions as a bacterial protein synthesis inhibitor.
Indicated for infections caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae, Staphylococcus aureus (methicillin-susceptible isolates), Haemophilus influenzae, Legionella pneumophila, Mycoplasma pneumoniae, and Chlamydophila pneumoniae. Also active against Staphylococcus aureus (methicillin-resistant isolates) Streptococcus agalactiae, Streptococcus anginosus, Streptococcus mitis, Streptococcus pyogenes, Streptococcus salivarius, Haemophilus parainfluenzae and Moraxella catarrhalis but not validated for these bacteria in clinical trials.
