Carbenoxolone is an inhibitor of the steroid dehydrogenase enzymes 11 ß-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase (human) and 3¿, 20 ß-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase (bacterial). It is often used as a gap junction inhibitor in neuroscience research.
